This summer, we have more than a few weddings coming up. While I look forward to these events with great anticipation, I always have difficulty coming up with an idea for that perfect wedding present. I know I will also be invited to the bridal showers for these events, which leads me to need two presents instead of just one.

First a Bridal Shower Gift

Buying gifts for the bridal shower is less complicated as you can procure your gift as listed in the wedding registry. If you want to give the gift that you really want to give the bride, you have to go the shop as soon as you get the invitation, otherwise you will be left with gifts that might not be your first choice. Now, the wedding gift is the gift that you have to give more thought to.

Wedding Present - More Thought Required

Maybe I am just too detail oriented, but as much as possible I strive to fit the wedding present to the wedding's theme. For example, knowing that this couple loves the outdoors, I might give them a nice picnic basket with several bottles of wine. If my gift to them is an appliance like a mixer, I am likely to package this with some favorite recipes of mine or a cookbook.

Weddings should not be too bulky because you also have to think of the difficulty of transporting them from the reception to the newlyweds' abode.

Sometimes, the wedding gift should conform to the traditions of the place where the wedding is being held. Some locations in the country have traditional gifts, particularly if it is coming from relatives or kin. In many areas money is the customary form of gift. In our place, gifts are hardly ever given while cards with money in it abounds. On the other hand, places in the Midwest gifts come in the form of things rather than money.

I am certain I will be able to procure suitable gifts for my forthcoming weddings and as usual I will put so much thought in whatever gift I decide to give. Whatever I choose to give in the end I just have to keep in mind that in gift giving, it is the thought that counts. If still my creativity fails me, then cash gift will be my fallback. This, I am sure will also be acceptable.
